Thumb Injury 5th Dec 2007
Decided to sharpen a peeling knife and man was it sharp, I felt it hit the bone !!.
Decided I had better get a couple of stitches so took some photos first & e.mailed them to my mates and got my brother to drop me at casualty dep.

Saw a trainee doctor who decided I should show her that I could bend the thumb, I duly obliged & then she decided to push down on the thumb nail and have me exert pressure upwards which was when the partly severed tendon decided to fully sever !!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh Dear !!!!!!!!!
Had to wait 4hrs to see a plastic surgeon who told me an operation was needed to repair the damage and would have to be off work for 2 months. He put on a dressing & plaster cast and said to return to hospital 8.30am the following day.
Photo is at home soaked in sweat after walking home (all uphill) from hospital

Arrived at hospital 6th Dec 8.30am, got to operating theatre 4.00pm and had it done under local anesthetic, they would not allow me to take the camera in !!
Below are photos of an actual operation to repair a tendon in the palm of the hand mine was the same operation but to the thumb tendon that runs along the top of the thumb the stitches photograph is of my
hand. Notice the zig zag opening in the palm are the same as my operation
